Privacy Policy
Last updated: 4 October 2026. This is the pilot version of the policy for the Radio OS test service.
Who we are
Radio OS is operated by Radio OS (pilot project) ("we"), the data controller. Contact: radio-os@proton.me.
What we collect
- Listeners (no account): we store nothing about you. To play audio and show the map, your device connects to services we use (listed below), which see your IP address and basic technical data.
- Hosts (people who apply to broadcast): email address, password (stored as a secure hash, never in plain text), the host name you choose, the station you request, the time you accepted the broadcasting rules, your scheduled shows, and messages you send to us (for example an appeal).
- Reports: if you report a broadcast or a radio station, we store the station, your reason and the time. We do not store who sent a listener report.
- Live audio: a host's voice is transmitted live to listeners. We do not record it.
- On your device: a sign-in session (only for hosts) and cached app files so the app opens quickly. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies.
Why we use it (legal basis, UK GDPR)
- Running accounts, approving hosts and delivering broadcasts: performance of the service you ask for (contract).
- Safety, moderation, handling reports and appeals: our legitimate interest in keeping the community safe.
Services that process data for us
- Supabase (database and sign-in, EU region London/Europe) - stations, host accounts, shows, reports.
- LiveKit - delivers live audio between hosts and listeners.
- Cloudflare - hosts this website.
- Esri (satellite imagery), OpenStreetMap Nominatim (place search) and Radio Browser (radio station directory) - receive the map areas you view or the words you search for.
- Third-party radio stations - when you play an external radio station, your device connects directly to that station's server, which sees your IP address. These stations are not operated by us and are marked as external.
How long we keep it
Host accounts and their data are kept while the account is active and deleted on request. Reports and appeals are kept while needed to handle them. Past scheduled shows may be deleted at any time.
Your rights
You can ask to see, correct or delete your data, to restrict or object to its use, and to receive a copy. Email radio-os@proton.me. You can also complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).
Children
Hosting is for people aged 18 or over. Listening is open to everyone, but the service is not designed for children.
Changes
We will update this page if we change how the service works and will show the date above.
This pilot policy is a plain-language draft and should be reviewed by a qualified adviser before a public commercial launch.
